Get Your Home Summer Ready

Posted on by

Family SummerSummer is fast approaching and it’s not just your body that needs to be a temple this BBQ season. Turn your garden into a summer time paradise and feel confident about hosting those all day parties in the sun. Here are a few tips to get your home looking ship shape this summer.

Bring your surfaces to life

First things first you need to get your garden surfaces looking spic and span. The surfaces in your garden are something that can give your whole property a new lease of life and a great first impression. Some of you may just want to spruce your garden up and get it looking clean but others, who’s gardens are somewhat dated, might like to reinvigorate their garden with a fresh new look.

There are three major surfaces that can make a garden look good and, don’t forget, you can use a combination of the three. There is block paving, which is probably the most popular and is often coupled with grass. To clean your block paving you should use a power hose and when this is complete it will look like you’ve freshly laid the whole garden. In the winter the slabs can pick up a lot of dirt and leave your garden looking grey and dull but once you have cleaned the pavement it will look spotless.

Cutting GrassYour grass should be cut regularly and treated fairly often. Water the grass when you water your plants to keep it looking healthy. Also, when you are cutting your grass, a good tip is to cut it in stripes. This gives it a nice pattern and improves its appearance vastly.

One more surface that is very popular in the summer months and really does work brilliantly on the outside of a conservatory is decking. This can be maintained with special formulas to prevent future wear but if your decking is looking a bit down it might be a good idea to sand it which will give it the appearance of being brand new.

Fix up your furniture

Now you have your surfaces up to date and looking fresh you can concentrate on existing garden furniture and the purchasing of new essentials. A lick of paint can go a long way with garden benches and chairs, and if you use some good products this will last for many summers to come.

IBBQ Grillf you want to host some garden parties this summer, a table and chairs will be essential and you could maybe invest in some loungers and hammocks to really relax your guests. Water features are always a nice touch on a hot day and one thing that is imperative for your garden is a nice, clean BBQ. No garden party would be complete without the fresh smell of meat roasting and the Barbie.

If your parties often flow deep into the night you could warm your guests up with a nice fire pit. These make the garden a very warm and welcoming place to relax and can look extremely nice, especially when they are in the form of a wishing well.

Make the most of your conservatory

Another way you could keep the party going through the night is with a conservatory or orangery. With one of these you can have garden parties all year round and let’s face it, the British weather is pretty unpredictable. Your conservatory would be a great place to allow guests in and out of your home as it creates a lot more space for your garden and keeps them with the rest of the guests due to how open it can be.
