Which other company dares to make this offer?
This does not apply to breakage of glass or insulated panels.
Beat the Burglars
Northumbria Police is urging householders considering double-glazed windows and doors to choose systems which give the greatest protection from burglars.
With recent figures showing house burglaries 6 per cent down and at their lowest point since 1981, the force is determined to build on this success with the help of the Kitemark and BBA - the Government-backed body for building products.
The force is recommending that the standard for windows should be BS 7950 - either kitemarked or BBA certificated.
Doors should meet the new BSI PAS 024 standard and again be either kitemarked or BBA certificated.
The standards cover not only the anti-burglar qualities of windows and doors but also the method of fitting and the locks, hinges and frames.
Police are advising customers to seek confirmation in writing that these standards will be met and that windows and doors will be installed following the Glass and Glazing Federation's code of practice.

Questions you need to ask before buying PVCu windows:
- Are the windows internally glazed?
- Are the windows secured by design?
- Are the windows kitemarked to BS 7412?
- Are the windows kitemarked to BS 7950?
- Are they windows of enhanced security?
- Are the doors kitemarked to BS P.A.S. 23?
- Are the doors kitemarked to BS P.A.S. 24?
- Will the windows be installed in accordance with the Glass Federation code of practice for the installation of PVCu windows? (GGF/BPF COP3)
- For window security, look for the secured by British Standards Institution 7950 logo.
- For the best double glazing you need a 'yes' to all these questions, confirmed IN WRITING. Salesmen will tell you that their product is 'just as good' but this is a matter of opinion. Demand to see a kitemark.
Don't Become Another Crime Statistic
If your own home hasn't been broken into, the chances are you know someone whose has. Over 40% of forced entries into homes are through downstairs rear casement windows. The fact is, conventional PVCu window fittings are simply not sufficient to provide effective security.
