Gentoo Newbuild
We have delivered approximately 14 substantial new-build projects with Gentoo Construction. All of the projects are part of Gentoo's "Kick Start" works, offering affordable homes to those looking to get on the property ladder. These works have been running successfully since 2007 and they are now forecasting works for the foreseeable future. Gentoo have taken the approach to offer much higher specification windows that will allow them to achieve their goal when working towards the "Code For Sustainable Homes". Band-A rated windows are most commonly used, with the view to moving towards using Warmseal's Zero Carbon window.
Taylor Wimpey - Staiths South Bank
We undertook three years of work on this site, a development set to be one of the largest new-build sites in the North East. It was designed by Ian Darby Partnership, Hemingway Design and Glen Kemp, with creative landscaping and social spaces to encourage interaction between residents of the development. Hemingway Design was subsequently invited to join Wimpey in creating a better, more sustainable product which would appeal to the 70% of house buyers surveyed, who said they would not buy a house on a new estate. The scheme offers real choice at low cost and incorporates an innovative shared-surface design, making it the largest new-build Home Zone supported by the Department of Transport's first experimental Homezone Scheme. Phase 1's immediate success was demonstrated when buyers queued for two nights prior to the start of sales, with the first release sold within four hours. Investors were restricted to purchasing no more than two units.
