Houghton Golf Club
This modern development was designed by Gentoo Construction. The tinted glass, along with the coloured aluminium profile, creates a modern look that sets this golf club apart from most courses in North East England.
Tyneside Golf Club
The last remaining pavilion golf club in North East England needed refurbishing - and we had to use materials to satisfy English Heritage.
Our brief was to develop a solution that would provide a more energy-efficient building keeping the original aesthetic appeal of the structure.
The existing single-glazed timber windows and timber-cladded fascias offered no insulation properties whatsoever. Our solution? We removed the existing cladding, introduced a high-performance insulating material between the joists and re-covered them with a fire-rated timber cladding. A breathable coating system was then applied to the external face with an exact colour match.
The single-glazed windows were replaced with new double-glazed timber windows. The original sightlines were kept whilst offering a higher performance and lower U-Value.
Fenham Baths
Fenham Pool in Newcastle upon Tyne has been an important community facility since 1938. After closure in 2003, the baths were re-opened in 2005 as a community-run pool. Following extensive refurbishment of the changing rooms on the back of a grant from the Big Lottery, we were awarded the contract to install high-performance glazing. Due to the number of windows, including an impressive full-length skylight, the PVCu casement windows were introduced to ensure that warmth is retained as well as greater energy efficiency.
