Moorside school

Working in conjunction with Durham Service Direct, we delivered the largest one-off school refurbishment project that we have undertaken in a four-week delivery period. The works were executed using aluminium top-swing windows directly glazed into an aluminium curtain walling system. The top-swing window offers ease of cleaning due to the operation of the window system. The sash revolves 180 degrees and locks into place, allowing cleaning to proceed. This was one of our first projects with this client and stood us in great shape to gain a long-term partnership for the next four years.

Newcastle University

We specified all of the existing timber windows in all areas of the student accommodation to be replaced with rosewood PVCu frames. Working to a tight deadline, we had a six-week period within the summer shut-down to replace approximately 800 frames.

With Newcastle University's commitment to energy conservation and sustainable construction, cheapest was not always best. Their ethos proved that although they may have had a higher capital cost outlay by specifying a better-performing product, there would be a significant saving in energy consumption over the life of the product. Band-B rated windows were used on this occasion. Needless to say, the job was completed on time.

Brandling School

Brandling School was one of six schools undertaken within a six-week summer holiday period. All works were planned and reviewed by our partner, Gateshead Local Environmental Services, prior to any works being undertaken. To create comfortable interiors without sacrificing natural light, duel 6mm toughened Arctic Blue glass was installed. Safety and ease of comfort in the classroom was assured.

Bede School

"A very personal service."
"Consultation and discussion at a very early stage."
"Fitted during school time, but caused very little disruption to the work of the school."
"Considerate of the needs of the school at all stages and levels, Warmseal have been a pleasure to work with."
"Would stand up to any inspection - even Ofsted."

The comments above were made by Head Teacher Mr Ray Foster about our work at the Bede School. The Clasp-5 modular building underwent a major window development programme during the school's normal working hours without any major disruption to the academic timetable. This achievement was made possible through the co-operation and planning of the main contractor, Gateshead LES, and of Mr Ray Foster.

The window design and construction, including the tinted glass specification, has made both the aesthetic appearance and working environment of the classrooms much more pleasing. Long-term savings in heating costs have been achieved. The school was improved and Mr Foster was delighted with the finished result.
